Tiffany Chang of Palo Alto values the education and friendships she gained throughout her years at UC Davis and knows that other seniors feel the same. That’s why she is encouraging her classmates to join her in leaving a lasting legacy on campus through a gift of $20.09 or more to the Senior Class Challenge in honor of their graduation year.
“We’re all college students, but this is a small amount,” said Chang, who is double majoring in communications and psychology. “Every little bit adds up to make a big difference,” she said.
“With approximately 3,000 seniors graduating in June, we have the opportunity to make a big impact,” Chang said.
A tradition since 1982, the Senior Class Challenge is an annual giving program developed by the UC Davis Annual Fund to encourage participation and build a tradition of philanthropy among students who will soon be alumni. Chang said she and others helped get the word out about the challenge through e-mails, phone calls and postcards. Students are encouraged to give to their college, but may also choose to give directly to the Annual Fund, which supports UC Davis overall.
Participating in the Senior Class Challenge not only leaves a lasting legacy, but also shows students and parents’ strong support for UC Davis.
“By giving to the Senior Class Challenge, students and parents can say ‘thank you’ for the outstanding education provided by UC Davis,” said Cam Stoufer, director of annual and special gifts. “It’s also an excellent way to begin a tradition of philanthropy among our students and an opportunity for parents to honor their graduating senior.”
“The work that Tiffany and other students are doing will have far-reaching benefits,” Stoufer added. “UC Davis is honored by and grateful for this wonderful support.”
