Graduating from UC Davis does not mean the end of all the advantages of being a student, and students need not wait until graduation to enjoy the benefits of membership in the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.

Access to the campus library, discounts at the UC Davis Bookstore and sporting events, a subscription to a quarterly newsletter, deals on travel and entertainment, and career and networking services are just some of the things an alumni membership offers.

Student membership

The same rewards offered to alumni are available to current students at a reduced rate. Students can participate in the alumni association's collegiate membership program. First-year students can purchase a four-year membership for $50. Continuing students can join for $15 a year. Graduating seniors can become annual members of alumni association for $25.

Collegiate members interested in tapping into the knowledge and experience of alumni can elect to participate in the Cal Aggie Student Alumni Network. The network provides collegiate members opportunities to connect with alumni in a variety of fields.

Graduating senior Nadia Rohlinger joined CASAN in her freshman year. "I was really attracted to the types of programs and the level of professionalism in CASAN," she says.

Mixing with alumni

Rohlinger, an international relations major from Lake Forest, is the interim student programs manager for CASAN, which has about 20 core members and a membership list of about 300 students.

The students meet with alumni at events including a dinner where they are seated with alumni of their same major; a lunch that gives students the opportunity to talk one-on-one with alumni mentors; and panel discussions in which alumni talk about their real-life experiences in the business world.

"We offer a valuable connection to the alumni and we are very fortunate that they are so willing to help us," Rohlinger says.

CASAN meets each Wednesday evening during the school year in the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center.
