Preparing to GraduateThe Path to Success This planning tool provides a way for students to focus on their life as a student while preparing for a professional career or graduate studies. It offers direction in academic planning, leadership, and personal development as well as guidance in seeking academic and personal support. Degree Navigator Degree Navigator is an innovative, online advising tool students can use to explore degree programs at UC Davis, plan their academic careers and track their progress toward graduation. For best results, Degree Navigator should be used in consultation with a student's academic adviser and the General Catalog. Parents can log in once as guest users. College Advising — Advising for general education, majors and degree certification is available through the undergraduate colleges.
Applying to Graduate — Students who plan to receive a bachelor’s degree can apply online through this secure service. Applicants must have completed all of their requirements to graduate by the end of the term for which they are filing. Deadlines apply. CommencementCommencement Ceremonies — UC Davis holds two commencement ceremonies in December and others in the spring. See the undergraduate colleges for information on their ceremonies:
Commencement Handbook — The Commencement Handbook, an online publication, provides detailed information about upcoming commencement ceremonies and related information from academic dress and class rings to guests and photography. UC Davis Bookstore The bookstore's graduation page has information on services ranging from cap and gown rental to graduation announcements. Flower Sales — Student organizations sell flowers at the undergraduate ceremonies in the spring to raise funds for their activities. Bouquets and orchid leis are available. News Announcements — UC Davis notifies the media about commencement ceremonies and guest speakers. With some 7,000 graduates each year, the campus is not able to send out news releases about the graduation of individual students. Graduate Studies and CareersAdvising Services — Advising Services provides pre-graduate and pre-professional educational planning and advising resources in support of students' academic objectives. The department offers individual advising appointments, workshops, a resource room and other tools to assist students. Career and Graduate Study Resource Center This resource library has job vacancy listings; periodicals describing employment opportunities; company information; and a collection of books on career selection, job hunting, resume writing and interview skills. Resources for graduate study include graduate school catalogs, program-search resources and specific information from individual pre-professional programs. Internship and Career Center — The Internship and Career Center assists students in career planning and integrating academic, career and personal interests; and sponsors workshops and on-campus recruiting and career fairs. The internship program provides students with opportunities to supplement classroom learning with internships in a wide variety of business and non-profit settings in the United States and abroad. Cal Aggie Alumni Association — The Cal Aggie Alumni Association offers dues-paying members access to an online career network and other resources for resume building and job searches. Collegiate membership in the alumni association provides students with similar benefits. Cal Aggie Alumni AssociationBuehler Alumni and Visitors Center Cal Aggie Alumni Association — The Cal Aggie Alumni Association offers a host of benefits to its members including discounts, online career networking, travel programs and many opportunities for graduates to maintain a vital connection with the campus. Collegiate Membership — Collegiate membership in the alumni association provides students with many benefits including discounts on purchases on campus and in the community, travel discounts, and access to a Career Resource Network and special alumni events. Alumni 101 — The 13-page booklet Alumni 101: A Short Guide to Life After Graduation provides helpful information for new graduates about everything from job searches to the benefits of joining the alumni association and staying in touch with fellow grads. Lifelong LearningUC Davis Extension — UC Davis Extension offers continuing education programs for graduats who want to further their knowledge and skills in a focused area of professional practice, maintain a professional credential or prepare for a career change. Classes are designed to fit the lives of working professionals who want quality education with a shorter time commitment than an academic degree demands. Members of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association recieve a 10 percent discount on one class each quarter. Giving to UC DavisSenior Class Challenge — A tradition since 1982, the Senior Class Challenge is an annual gift that graduating undergraduates donate to UC Davis. It is intended to encourage UC Davis alumni to make a lifelong commitment to giving. Senior class gifts in previous years have gone to support the Mondavi Center, the Weier Redwood Grove in the UC Davis Arboretum and the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences. UC Davis Foundation — Giving to the UC Davis Foundation ensures that the university can fund scholarships, programs, facilities and other projects deemed critical to the continued development and excellence of the institution. All gifts are tax deductible. Other Giving Opportunities — UC Davis receives gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and other entities. Many of these gifts fulfill a specific need, and benefit academic programs, establish scholarships or fund building campaigns or research.
